Thousands of Canadians are diagnosed with oral cancer every year. If detected early there is an 80 to 90% survival rate. This is why we believe in performing a visual and tactile oral cancer screening of the head, neck, face and mouth at every visit, for every client, regardless of age. Alcohol and tobacco use continue to be risk factors, with a new link to HPV-16, the same virus shown to cause cervical cancer, making young people more susceptible. We will assess your risk factors and educate you on ways to perform an oral cancer self-examination. Referrals will be made to dentists or medical professionals as required.
